INFINITI Motor Company has announced a restructuring plan that will focus the brand on its largest global markets, specifically North America and China.
As part of this restructuring, INFINITI has taken the difficult decision to withdraw and conclude INFINITI operations within Western Europe from early 2020. Until this time INFINITI centres will remain fully operational for all your sales and aftersales needs.
Please be assured, that INFINITI will fulfil all its obligations towards our customers. Beyond March 2020, we are currently assessing the most effective and convenient way of providing full aftersales services for INFINITI owners including service, maintenance and warranty repairs. We will confirm these arrangements in the months to come.
As a valued customer, we will endeavor to make this transition as seamless as possible and thank you again for choosing INFINITI.
Used car values are dependent on a number of variables. Declining INFINITI volumes over recent years have helped stabilise INFINITI residual values. The sell-down volumes we envisage are modest enough to conclude that we foresee no reason for beyond market residual value revisions.
Yes our transition plan for aftersales operations will mean your extended warranty agreement will of course be valid and any work required will be conducted within the terms and conditions of the agreement.
Customers should check and verify that their agreement is fully registered with their INFINITI Center. If this is not clear then customers should contact their local INFINITI Customer Services Centers with details of the extended warranty agreement.
In the case it is RCI and most other financing firms, there is a contractual obligation between the ‘financing entity’ and you, the ‘end customer’, which would mean there is no change to your agreement.
In the case you have an option to purchase the car at the end of your contract, you may choose to accept, decline or negotiate the final settlement price.
Until March 2020 you can continue to use your local INFINITI Center for all your aftersales requirements. From March 2020 we anticipate all INFINITI owners will be able to take their car to selected Nissan dealers to access all servicing, maintenance, repair and warranty services for their INFINITI. These Nissan dealers will be trained and equipped to supply these services.
This transition of aftersales services is currently being planned and will take a few months to finalise. With current INFINITI Centers planned to close in March 2020, INFINITI owners will be advised of these new.
We firmly suggest that you talk directly with your INFINITI Center where you placed the order to agree whether to progress or cancel your order.
Fundamentally nothing changes in respect of INFINITI operations over the next 12 months. That said, we would suggest that you contact your INFINITI Center directly to discuss the terms and conditions of any future purchase.
INFINITI has always been a niche brand in Western Europe with maximum sales of 16.6K back in CY 2016. This sales volume has declined in the last 2 years with only 5.8K cars sold in CY 2018. Within the Western Europe context of falling sales and the prospect of increasing investment costs towards future legislation and product complexity, there is no longer a sustainable and viable business case for this region. Regrettably, we have taken the decision to plan to leave Western Europe.
INFINITI has an obligation to ensure any relevant recalls can be actioned according to agreed process and standards. Beyond March 2020, parent brand Nissan will be assuming this responsibility. The details of your INFINITI model will be held on their vehicle system and if a recall has to be issued they will make every attempt to contact you.
